Mobile scaffolding makes working at height safer and more comfortable than a ladder — but only if it's set up and used correctly. Here are the key safety rules before you get started on your DIY project.
Always assemble the scaffold on a firm, level surface. Uneven ground can cause the frame to lean, which increases the risk of collapse. Use the adjustable base plates to level the scaffold and ensure all four corners are stable before climbing.
Lock the castor wheels before you step on the scaffold. Mobile scaffolds are designed to be moved when empty — not while someone is standing on them. Always descend before relocating the platform.
Check the working load limit on your scaffold. Our 4.2m and 5.4m mobile scaffolds have specific load ratings — typically around 225 kg per platform. Don't overload the deck with heavy materials. Carry only what you need for the immediate task.
Use the guardrails. All of our scaffold systems include guardrail components. Always install the full perimeter guard before working at height. Don't lean out over the edge or reach beyond the platform footprint.
Inspect the scaffold before each use. Check for bent or damaged frames, missing pins or clips, and loose bracing. If anything doesn't look right, don't use it — call us and we'll help you sort it out.
For jobs over 4 metres in height, additional safety planning may be required under Queensland WHS regulations. Our team can advise on the right scaffold height for your project and whether any additional fall protection is needed.
